Become A Sai Youth
The mission of Sai Youth is to elevate ourselves spiritually through service to others filled with pure love. We are a group of youth with diverse religious backgrounds. Regardless of our faiths, what unites us all is the underlying truth that “Love All, Serve All” Our goal is to awaken in the youth the awareness of the inherent divinity within and to live in that awareness by developing their character through the practise of the basic principles of Truth, Right-Conduct, Peace, Love, and Non-Violence.
Our Centre
"Bear all and do nothing; Hear all and say nothing;
Give all and take nothing; Serve all and be nothing"
-~ The Divine Master
"I have come to light the lamp of Love in your hearts, to see that it shines day by day with added luster. I have not come on behalf of any exclusive religion. I have not come on a mission of publicity for a sect or creed or cause, nor have I come to collect followers for a doctrine. I have no plan to attract disciples or devotees into my fold or any fold. I have come to tell you of this unitary faith, this spiritual principle, this path of Love, this virtue of Love, this duty of Love, this obligation of Love."
~Sai Baba
Sri Sathya Sai Baba is the current incarnation of the Supreme Lord. He is a highly revered spiritual leader and world teacher, whose life and message are inspiring millions of people throughout the world to turn Godward and to lead constructive and virtuous lives.
His timeless and universal teachings, along with the example of his own life, are attracting seekers of Truth from all religions of the world.
He was born as Sathya Narayana Raju in 1926 in Puttaparthi, then a remote hamlet in South India. As a child he was brilliant in his studies, but what made him unique was his extraordinary wisdom and compassion.
At the age of fourteen, he declared that he would hence forth be known as Sai Baba and that his mission was to bring about the spiritual regeneration of humanity by inculcating love for God and service to all beings.
Over eight decades, his life has been a stirring and moving saga of love and compassion. Today, Prashanthi Nilayam [his ashram in South India] attracts thousands of spiritual seekers from virtually every corner of the globe. This [abode of highest peace] offers solace and inspiration to all who aspire for Peace.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba uplifts man by teaching and demonstrating that man is inherently divine and his nature is selfless love. Quoting the scriptures of various faiths, Baba often reminds us that Love is God and God is Love, and that Love is imminent in the heart of every being. Through his own example, Baba demonstrates how to tap that unfailing Source.
He reemphasizes principles that form the foundation of the worlds major religions: Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love, and Non-Violence.
He repeatedly exhorts mankind to "Love All, Serve All" and asserts that the essence of all scriptures is "Help Ever, Hurt Never!"
Our Mission
Like minded individuals building character through Service and Spirituality to become better leaders of tomorrow
Our Goal
To awaken in the youth the awareness of the inherent divinity within and to live in that awareness by developing their character through the practise of the basic principles of Truth, Right-Conduct, Peace, Love, and Non-Violence

“Love All, Serve All”
“Helping hands are holier than praying lips”
The above quotes summarize the basic foundation of belief of Sai Youth. We believe that service to humanity is service to God. And we believe that we can achieve the supreme goal of life through such services.
As stated above, the key mission of Sai Youth is to elevate ourselves spiritually through service to others filled with pure love. We are a group of youth with diverse religious backgrounds. Regardless of our faiths, what unites us all is the underlying truth that “Love All, Serve All”.

"Our journey to Sai, the journey within"
• Be Swami's messengers and aspire towards living an ideal Sai life. In doing so, we want to foster a better understanding of and live our lives based on His
teachings.
• Practice to be the light within. We come together in this continuous journey in our Godward path, to develop faith and be aware of Divinity Within all the time.
• Develop spiritual oneness. Our country represents diverse cultures and circumstances to apply Swami’s teachings and we relish the opportunity to share our experiences and learn from each other.
World Sai Youth Conference 2007
The Canadian Sai Youth Group is a branch of the Sathya Sai Service Organization in the Canada. Its role is to provide forums and opportunities to allow youth activities within the Canada to flourish. Sathya Sai Baba has stated that, 'the age span 16 - 35 is crucial, for that is the period when life adds sweetness to itself, when talents, skills and attitudes are accumulated, sublimated and sanctified'.
The spiritual guidance of youth is of paramount importance to the success of the Sai mission. The foundations of morality and the benefits of virtuous living are of utmost significance. Hence, the aim of this wing is to build upon the knowledge and wisdom that has been conferred at the level of Sathya Sai Education. In this way, fundamental principles are re-iterated and expanded upon during the often difficult and uncertain period of adulthood.
Sai Youth at Ottawa- Carleton Sai Centre are continuously engaged in activities would assist us in reaching our Supreme Goal. As summarized above, we strive to realize the Lord within each and every one of us and be an ideal instrument to the Lords work.
As new thoughts and ideas are brought to life, the Sai Youth Group at Ottawa- Carleton Centre is going through a refreshing transformation in the hopes of achieving the Lords vision for us.

"The future of the country depends on the skill and the sincerity of the youth. Therefore, the necessary enthusiasm and encouragement must be generated among the youth. All my hopes are based on the students, the youth. They are very dear to Me."
~ Baba
Our activities are sorted into three different categories: Spiritual, Service, and Social. We have several activities in each category and we are seeking Swami's guidance in choosing the right activities that will help us in our journey to Him.
Spiritual
The Sai Youth have decided to have regular study circles filled with energetic discussions. Along with it, the youths have thought of doing activities like bhajan jam sessions, workshops, reading an inspiring book and discussing it as a group, yoga and meditation, and inviting other youth speakers. We have also thought of having a session every month at which we would watch and inspiring and motivation movie/ video. This will also benefit others that are not in the Sai Youth Group.
Service
The Sai Youth have brainstormed and listed several service activities which are divided into service to our Sai Center and service to our community.
To serve our Sai Centre, we've discussed
about regularly present Prashanthi Bulletin
updates to the congregation, provide necessary
assistance to Group 4 SSE students, initiate a
Seva Dal project, fence painting, environmental
projects: compost and recycle, and make
brochures and pamphlets about various faiths.
To serve our Community, we have thought
of several activities; such as visiting seniors,
spending time with under-privileged children,
volunteer with humane society, continue
sandwich seva, make care packages, collect
snowsuits and used winter jackets, volunteer for
tree planting, drop off FoodBank items, and
collect items for Operation Go Home.
Social
The Sai Youth is more than just a forum for spiritual progress. We are doing activities that would simply bring us together and will allow us to get to know each other a little better. Our Sai Centre youths have thought of having Youth (game/ movie) nights and sleepovers, and going out and taking part in outdoor events and activities as a group. We are considering having a Sai Youth retreat with the Ottawa- Carleton and Montreal Sai Centre Youths. We hope that it will be a great way to re-energize ourselves.
TeenYouth
TeenYouth are an important part of the Sai Organization and our Sai Youth Group. One of the Sai Youth Groups goal is to bridge the gap between the Youths and the SSE-Group 4. Few of the key steps we intend to take are: provide necessary academic and social advices, provide an anonymous way for them to ask any questions or concerns, be available for them on a regular basis and as required. We have also decided to allow the SSE-Group 4 to take part in most of the Sai Youth Group activities. With You guiding us, we hope to succeed at reaching this goal.
Swami's Nine Code of Conduct
1. Daily meditation and prayer.
2. Group devotional singing or prayer with family members once a
week.
3. Participation in Sai Spiritual Education by children of the family.
4. Participation in community service work and other programs of the
organization.
5. Regular attendance at the Centre's devotional meetings.
6. Regular study of Sathya Sai Baba literature.
7. The use of soft, loving speech with everyone.
8. Not speaking ill of others, especially in their absence.
9. Practice placing a ceiling on desires - consciously and continuously
strive to eliminate the tendency to waste time, money, food and
energy - and utilize the savings for service to mankind.
Swami's Ten Guiding Principles
1. Love and serve your country.
Do not be critical of other countries.Have a sense of pride in your motherland. Just as your mother has given birth to you, so too the land has given birth to you. Whatever country you belong to, you should have a sense of patriotism. You should not indulge in criticizing other countries or people belonging to other nations. Having trust and faith in your own country, you won't try to put down any other country. Never bring grief or sorrow to your country. To have pride in your own motherland is important.
2. Honor and respect all religions as pathways to God.
Never have hatred toward any religion. Honor and respect all religions equally. Even as you are a citizen of your motherland but respect all countries, also respect all religions equally. [See also: 'the universal declaration of human rights' i.e. article 18]
3. Love all humanity as part of your family.
Develop a sense of the brotherhood of man. Look upon each person as your own brother or sister. There is only one caste, the caste of humanity. All of us belong to the human race, so everyone is equal. Therefore, love each one equally.
4. Keep home and surroundings clean.
Keep your own house and its surroundings pure and clean. This hygiene will keep you healthy and benefit your worldly life.
5. Help the needy with food, clothing and shelter.
Help them become self-reliant when possible. Be discriminating when dispensing charity. In the name of charity or philanthropy, we tend to do injustice to one's country. Charity does not mean that the land should be full of beggars. We can provide some support and means for the beggars, but provide food, clothing and other conveniences in such a way that you are not encouraging laziness and begging.
6. Be examples of honesty.
Do not participate in any corruption such as bribery. Never give or take a bribe. Giving bribes, or accepting bribes, is contrary to the very name of the Sri Sathya Sai Organizations. Bear this in mind continuously.
7. Curb jealousy, hatred and envy.
We must seek ways to solve difficulties such as hatred, envy and jealousy. To curb this sense of envy and jealousy, we must develop a broader outlook. Do not differentiate on the basis of race, caste, creed, or country. Follow your cultural and religious customs in your own home, but do not attempt to impose them on society. Rather than this, love each person as your own brother or sister, not seeing him or her as belonging to another creed, religion, or country.
8. Develop self-reliance.
Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Organizations should do things by themselves; they should not depend on others. You may be very wealthy and have servants and assistants to help in a few tasks, but your own work you must do yourself. If you wish to be of service to society, serve yourself first. One who will not serve society has no right to belong to a Sri Sathya Sai Organization.
9. Observe your country's laws and be exemplary citizens.
You should never go against the law of the land. We must follow the letter of the law. The members of the Sri Sathya Sai Organizations should follow the law in spirit also and be models for the government.
10. Adore God, abhor sin.
You must love God and avoid sin. Love God incessantly. As long as you keep committing sins, God will never be yours.
Sai Youth Guidelines
The following guidelines are in place to ensure that we succeed in our spiritual journey. The guidelines are also in place to ensure that the Sai Youth Group functions efficiently. Membership in Sai Youth Group and Sri Sathya Sai Organization is a great privilege and it should never be taken for granted. A member may be disqualified if he or she acts contrary to the Sri Sathya Sai Organizational guidelines and Sai Youth Group Guidelines.
1. It is required that all members of the Sai Youth Group undertake Sadhana (spiritual discipline) as an integral part of his /her daily life and abide by the following guidelines and 9 Codes of Conduct.
2. Each youth must attempt to study, understand and imbibe into their daily lives Baba's teachings and this should be reflected in their conduct.
3. Members of Sai Youth Group are required to follow strict dress code. Swami says that modesty is very important aspect of our spiritual journey.
• All boys are required to wear white pants and white shirts or white t-shirts. Jeans, shorts, or any clothing with inappropriate contents is not
allowed.
• All girls are required salvar, pants with loose shirt, or saree. Girls are not allowed to wear clothes that are transparent, reveal the body figure, ankles, or chest. All girls must wear a shawl if required.
• When the youth is involved in outdoor activities, they are required to wear the Sai Youth T-Shirt unless stated otherwise.
• Sleeveless shirts, min-shorts, mini-skirts, or any clothing that is appealing to opposite sex or offensive to anyone is never allowed under any circumstances.
4. Youth should under no circumstances be influenced, affected, or get involved in differences of opinions and conflicts that may arise with adults of Sai Centres or between Sai Centres. At all times, youth shall project Swami's highest ideal of universal Love, Brotherhood and that 'Unity is Divinity'.
5. Members of Sri Sathya Sai Organization and Sai Youth Group must have respect of each other under any circumstances. Members of Sai Youth Group must promote brotherhood and sisterhood by referring to each other as sister(s) and brother(s).
6. Bhagawan Baba has allowed male and female youth to work together for all activities; except sitting separately for Bhajan, and study circles. Youth should in no way by word or action betray this trust. At all times all youth should behave as brothers and sisters. Any breach of this discipline will result in instant dismissal. Male and Female youth may work together, with a view to conserving resources, in all activities. Youth should always be mindful of Swami's teachings and control their thoughts, words and actions.
7. Members of Sai Youth Group must attend meetings and activities regularly in order to maintain membership in the Sai Youth Group. Should you not be able to attend a Sai Youth activity or a meeting, you must inform the Sai Youth Coordinator.
8. Youth shall at all times, follow the instructions and advice of the Centre Chairperson and the Youth Coordinators where it involves the work and the activity of the centre.
It is very important that we read and understand the Code of Conduct of Sai Youth Group. We all have to constantly remember that Swami is everywhere and in everyone. As Swami teaches us, we have to fill our thoughts, words, and deeds with unconditional love for all.
